About the Role:
We are currently seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our team located in our Bayswater Head Office. Reporting to the Mechanical Engineering Team leader, you will be responsible for the mechanical design and development of our quality products.
Using your previous experience and your sound engineering judgement you will implement and support engineering functions that achieve innovative ideas and direction as well as quality workflows and globally applied technical direction. Working within a highly skilled team you will create a collaborative, cohesive and supportive environment for Design Engineering personnel whilst achieving great outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Studying functional statements, organisational charts and project information to determine functions and responsibilities of workers and work units and to identify areas of duplication.
- Establishing work measurement programs and analysing work samples to develop standards for labour utilisation.
- Analysing workforce utilisation, facility layout, operational data and production schedules and costs to determine optimum worker and equipment efficiencies.
- Designing mechanical equipment, machines, components, products for manufacture, and plant and systems for construction.
- Developing specifications for manufacture, and determining materials, equipment, piping, material flows, capacities and layout of plant and systems.
- Organising and managing project labour and the delivery of materials, plant and equipment.
- Establishing standards and policies for installation, modification, quality control, testing, inspection and maintenance according to engineering principles and safety regulations.
- Inspecting plant to ensure optimum performance is maintained.
- Directing the maintenance of plant buildings and equipment, and coordinating the requirements for new designs, surveys and maintenance schedules.
Required Skills & Knowledge:
- Proven technical competency in mechanical or mechatronic engineering.
- Proven comprehension of design principles and their application to machine tool design.
- The ability to autonomously manage small to medium projects, prioritizing tasks and delivering within agreed time frame.
- Demonstrated ability to liaise and negotiate with internal and external suppliers.
- The ability to demonstrate critical thinking, root cause analysis and problem solving.
- Intermediate level Microsoft Office experience particularly MS Excel.
- Experience with NX or other CAD/CAM systems.
- High level of time management skills to meet strict timelines under pressure.
- Experience working with robots at integration and programming level is very highly regarded.
