About the Role
This role supports the our external project work and focuses on developing and refining CNC turning processes using CAM software. You’ll work closely with design engineering, production, and suppliers to optimise machining operations, resolve technical issues, and drive continuous improvement across the manufacturing lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and optimise CNC turning processes using Siemens NX CAM or similar
- Improve tool paths, cutting parameters, and work holding strategies
- Collaborate with design engineering to provide manufacturability feedback
- Resolve technical issues in production and support machinists
- Evaluate and implement new cutting tools and technologies
- Document standardised procedures and work instructions
- Mentor CNC machinists and support training programs
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives targeting cost, quality, and delivery
- Ensure safety and environmental compliance
What We’re Looking For
Essential Qualifications & Experience:
- Tertiary education (Diploma, Certification or Degree) in Mechanical trade, CNC Machining, or Manufacturing Technology
- 3+ years' experience in a manufacturing or process engineering environment.
- Proficient in CAM software (e.g. Siemens NX, Mastercam)
- Strong CNC turning knowledge
- Experience with process improvement and productivity gains
Preferred Skills:
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma
- Experience with CAD systems and ERP platforms
- Strong problem-solving and mentoring skills
