Position Overview
We are currently seeking a highly skilled Electrical Systems Engineer to join our dynamic team at our Bayswater Head Office. In this pivotal role, you will report to the Systems Engineering Team Leader (Mechatronic Solutions) and be responsible for the electrical systems design of CNC grinding machines and ancillary products. Your contributions will be vital for the seamless integration of our machines into smart factory solutions.
This role offers the opportunity to solve complex technical challenges and witness your designs come to life, enabling fully automated “lights out” factory operations for our customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Design complex electrical systems for industrial machinery.
- Contribute to project FAT/SAT activities.
- Apply departmental electrical design and drawing standards.
- Execute Work Packages as assigned, ensuring adherence to agreed Project Milestones.
- Collaborate with technical leaders to establish best practice standards for electrical design, ECAD implementation, and machine safety.
- Provide timely reports on project, milestone, or task progress, risks, and issues.
- Deliver comprehensive electrical systems documentation, including schematics, design reports, test plans, bills of materials, and automated eplan reports.
- Work closely with the mechanical design team throughout the design cycle.
- Contribute to the development of Codesys PLC and safety PLC for selected projects.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in electrical systems engineering, with a passion for innovation and problem-solving. You will be expected to demonstrate both technical expertise and collaborative skills in a team environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in mechatronics, electrical, or electronic engineering or a related field.
- Registered professional engineer accreditation (or eligibility to apply).
- Approximately 5-10 years’ experience in a similar role.
- Proficiency in electrical design software tools from Eplan, such as Eplan Electric P8, Cogineer, ProPanel, etc.
- Experience in electrical component selection, electrical cabinet design, 3-phase power distribution, earth and grounding design, and EMC testing and compliance.
- Knowledge of sizing, selection, setup, and testing of PLC, servo motor, and controls hardware.
- Experience in complex industrial machinery design from concept to detailed design.
- Understanding of machine safety design, risk assessment, safety function design, safety calculations, safety PLC programming, and validation.
