Position Overview
We are seeking a Senior Control Systems Engineer to join our dynamic team at our Bayswater Head Office. Reporting to the Systems Engineering Team Leader (Mechatronic Solutions), this role is critical to the electrical systems design and development of our CNC grinding machines and associated products. You will be instrumental in mechatronic design projects, driving the integration of our machines into smart factory environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop complex electrical systems tailored for industrial machinery
- Participate in project Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) activities
- Adhere to departmental electrical design and drawing standards
- Execute assigned Work Packages in alignment with established project milestones
- Collaborate with technical leaders to develop best practice standards for electrical design, ECAD implementation, and machine safety
- Provide timely updates on project progress, risks, and issues
- Create comprehensive electrical systems documentation, including schematics, design reports, test plans, and bills of materials
- Work closely with the mechanical design team throughout the design process
- Contribute to Codesys PLC and safety PLC development for selected projects
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in electrical engineering principles, ideally within a mechatronics context. You should have a passion for solving complex engineering challenges and a desire to contribute to innovative manufacturing solutions.
- Bachelor’s degree in mechatronics, electrical, electronic engineering, or a related field
- Registered professional engineer accreditation (or eligibility to apply)
- 5-10 years of relevant experience in a similar role
- Proficiency with electrical design software tools, including EPLAN Electric P8, Cogineer, and ProPanel
- Experience in electrical component selection, cabinet design, and compliance with EMC standards
- Familiarity with PLC, servo motor, and control hardware sizing and testing
- Comprehensive knowledge of industrial machinery design from concept to detailed execution
- Expertise in machine safety, risk assessment, and safety PLC programming
Desirable Qualifications
While not mandatory, the following would be considered advantageous:
- Functional safety training and certification (TUV, FSEng, CFSP, CFSE, etc.)
- Experience in developing Codesys PLC programs and EtherCAT network setup
- Understanding of European CE Directives/Regulations, specifically EN60204-1
