Position Overview
This role is ideal for a mechanically focused engineer who is passionate about improving assembly processes, supporting production, and driving quality and efficiency in a high-precision environment. You’ll play a key role in optimising workflows, introducing new products to production, and implementing process improvements that reduce cost and improve reliability.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and optimise mechanical assembly processes for CNC machines and subassemblies
- Troubleshoot production issues and drive rapid problem resolution
- Develop SOPs, assembly instructions, and production documentation
- Improve workstation layout, tooling, and ergonomics
- Collaborate with design engineering to support manufacturability and NPI
- Lead pilot builds and validate tooling and fixtures
- Conduct time studies, line balancing, and implement Lean and Six Sigma practices
- Promote safety, compliance, and continuous improvement
- Contribute to a positive, collaborative team culture
Candidate Profile
The successful candidate will possess a strong background in engineering, complemented by leadership qualities and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
Essential Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering
- 5+ years in an engineering role with a strong focus on process improvement
- Registered Professional Mechanical Engineer (Victoria)
- Proficiency in CAD (e.g., NX, AutoCAD) and ERP systems
- Strong knowledge of assembly, machining, and automation
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies
Preferred Skills:
- Green Belt or Black Belt certification
- Experience in CNC machine assembly environments
- Strong leadership potential and mentoring ability
- Excellent problem-solving and cross-functional collaboration skills
