Position Overview
The CNC Machinist will report to the Machine Shop Production Supervisor and play a crucial role in meeting machining challenges. This position involves setting and operating CNC equipment to manufacture components that meet stringent dimensional specifications, while ensuring optimal machine efficiency and adherence to production targets.
Key Responsibilities
- Achieve the machine shop production plan effectively and efficiently.
- Monitor material and part supplies, addressing issues promptly and implementing corrective actions.
- Follow the machining work schedule as per the manufacturing plans.
- Minimize rework and waste to enhance productivity.
- Maintain visual reporting and timely communication regarding quality concerns.
- Raise Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) for any non-conforming parts.
- Conduct routine safety checks and adhere to 5S practices.
- Participate in departmental risk assessments and maintain a safe working environment.
- Perform daily housekeeping duties and complete Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) tasks as required.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background as well as the ability to work independently. We seek individuals who are proactive and detail-oriented, with a commitment to quality and safety.
- Australian trade certificate in Fitting and Machining/Toolmaking (or equivalent).
- Proven experience in manufacturing precision components on CNC Mills and Lathes.
- Ability to read and interpret detailed engineering drawings, including GD&T.
- Strong metrology skills for inspecting and measuring components to precision tolerances.
- Experience with multitasker lathes and familiarity with Okuma, Mazak & Fanuc controls is advantageous.
- Excellent verbal and communication skills.
- Able to work unsupervised and manage multiple tasks effectively.
